About
Singing Knits is a creative space rooted in healing, craftsmanship, and community. It was born from a personal journey, one where yarn, needles, and quiet moments of making offered solace and strength in difficult times.
I'm Renāte Dziedātāja, a graphic and knitwear designer currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Functional Design at the Art Academy of Latvia. Though my background is in visual design, knitting has been my companion for the past eight years, first as a quiet act of resilience, and now as a deeply intentional practice.
My first sock was uneven and lopsided. I gave up for a while, thinking knitting just wasn’t for me. But years later, during a period of profound emotional struggle, I picked up the needles again, this time, not as a school assignment, but as a lifeline. In the rhythm of stitches and the softness of wool, I found something steady and grounding.
This store and the book it introduces grew out of my Master’s thesis, which explores the relationship between craft, emotional well-being, sustainability, and community. It includes 22 knitting patterns alongside personal essays, interviews, and journaling prompts that invite readers to slow down, reflect, and create with intention.
Each book comes with a companion Project Journal, designed to help you document not only your knitting projects but also your thoughts and emotional journey through the seasons.
Singing Knits is about more than patterns, it’s about connection. To yourself. To others. To the quiet moments that add up to healing and growth.
Whether you’re here for a book, a journal, or just inspiration, I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
Warmly,
Renāte Dziedātāja
